The spirit of the Williams community was on full display last Friday for the first-ever Williams Community Awards Banquet.
A total of 17 individuals ranging from students to the city’s mayor were recognized for a variety of awards at the event headed up by American Legion Post 13 commander Rodger Ely, who wanted to bring the entire community together for a unified awards ceremony.
“This is the first time we’ve done one of these events where we actually recognize at one time all of the people that have done so much for this town, and that recognition is so important,” Ely said.
Local students, teachers, first responders and public servants were among those recognized. The night culminated in the presentation of four awards voted on by the public – Business of the Year, Man of the Year, Woman of the Year and a Williams Lifetime Achievement Award….
