Victory Requires More

Victory Requires More is a structured mentorship and support program of Vertical Response Ministry designed to help youth and families build confidence, discipline, resilience, and a stronger sense of belonging through consistent guidance and community connection.

The program is built on the understanding that real, lasting change takes time and consistency. Research in youth development and behavioral science shows that long-term participation in structured programs significantly increases the likelihood of sustained behavioral improvement and positive life outcomes. Studies from organizations such as the National Mentoring Partnership and the Harvard Center on the Developing Child demonstrate that youth who remain engaged in supportive programs for 12 months or longer show stronger improvements in self-control, school engagement, emotional regulation, and reduced risk behaviors compared to those in short-term or inconsistent programs.

This is why Victory Requires More emphasizes sustained participation. Our program is designed to keep youth connected to positive mentors and structured activities over time, because the highest probability of permanent change occurs when support is consistent, relationships are stable, and expectations are clear.

A core component of the program is providing access to martial arts training scholarships through trusted partner gyms. These environments offer more than physical activity—they provide routine, accountability, mentorship, and a sense of belonging. Research consistently shows that structured physical training combined with mentoring improves confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience, particularly for youth experiencing bullying, isolation, or instability.

Scholarships are provided in 4-month terms, with renewal based on attendance, effort, and personal growth. This structure promotes accountability and sustained engagement, with the goal of maintaining participation for at least 12 months, a time frame widely recognized in youth development research as critical for establishing lasting behavioral and emotional change.

Victory Requires More serves at-risk youth, children facing bullying or isolation, survivors of abuse, veterans, and families who need connection and support. Referrals may come from schools, community partners, churches, or local agencies. The goal is not simply short-term assistance, but long-term transformation through consistent mentorship, structured training, and community support.

In simple terms:
Victory Requires More means lasting change requires more than good intentions—it requires time, consistency, structure, and people who are willing to walk alongside you until growth becomes permanent.

We believe the moral teachings and example of Christ offer universally respected principles—such as integrity, accountability, service to others, and perseverance—that strengthen individuals and communities.
